Early Life and Career

WEB Gavin Christopher Newsom was born on October 10, 1967, in San Francisco, California. He attended Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco, where he studied political science. Newsom began his political career in 1996 when he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He served as a supervisor for eight years, during which time he advocated for affordable housing and healthcare. In 2002, Newsom was elected Mayor of San Francisco and served in that role for seven years.

Lieutenant Governor and Governor of California

In 2010, Newsom was elected Lieutenant Governor of California. As Lieutenant Governor, he served as the presiding officer of the California State Senate and was responsible for overseeing the state's elections. In 2018, Newsom was elected Governor of California. As Governor, he has focused on issues such as healthcare, education, and climate change. Newsom is a member of the Democratic Party.
